Ye Olde Distillery Farm Stay near Hershey Park – Entire Home
Home Description
Welcome to Aberdeen Mills-a 40 acre farm and grist mill established in the 1770s. You will be staying in the miller’s cottage where the porch overlooks a green pasture, large creek and grist mill, built in 1774. Guests can help feed the animals and hunt for eggs. Walking/biking trails across the creek. Our rural setting is a relaxing spot to stay after a day of seeing the sites or visiting Hershey Park just 15 minutes away.
The space
Experience a bit of history while staying in the Miller’s Cottage, built with sandstone brought to the property by wagonloads in 1770. Just think! This home was built before the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Revolutionary War began! Some original features remain such as creaky, wide plank flooring, deep set window sills and plaster walls. Many of the doorways are considered low by today’s standards, so our taller guests may need to duck. The first floor has the kitchen, dining room and living room. The second floor has one full bath, two bedrooms and a common area with bed and workspace. Although over 250 years old, the cottage provides all the modern conveniences such as wifi, smart TV, Roku, microwave, etc. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better- no more trips to the creek with buckets because we even have running water! 😉 So enjoy that extra leisure time sitting on the large porch which overlooks gorgeous pastures and the Conewago Creek or explore the 40 acres of property consisting of woodlands, creek and farmland. The grist mill and other buildings require host to accompany guests to be entered and we are happy to give you a tour!
Guest access
Walking, biking and driving are the best ways to get around our immediate neighborhood. Driving will be needed to get into the lovely downtown area of Elizabethtown. There is free and metered parking in town. Parking at the farm is off the road and free. Walking up/down stairs and inclines from parking areas is required to access house.
Other things to note
This is a working farm. If you spend any amount of time enjoying the outdoors, you will most likely see us taking care of the animals, tending the garden or working on various projects throughout the property. The Conewago Creek runs right through our property. If you have a fishing license you can catch/release. Please watch children carefully as the creek is very rocky and deep in some areas. While exploring, please clean up after yourself by throwing trash in the garbage can. There is no smoking on the property. Thank you!!
