Located just 10 minutes from the Harrisburg International Airport and 10 minutes from the Elizabethtown Train Station (Amtrak), Aberdeen Mills is ideally situated for day trips to other major cities on the east coast. Whether you choose to join a guided tour or to explore the cities at your own leisure, be sure not to miss these highlights:
New York, New York:
Take the train from Elizabethtown to the Big Apple – New York, New York! You have so many choices of things to do here in the city that never sleeps. Catch a Broadway or Off Broadway show, visit Time Square, 5th Ave and the Rockefeller Center. Or pay your respects as Ground Zero, take the Ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or spend the day in Little Italy or Chinatown. Love museums? New York has some of the most celebrated museums in the world. Find any cuisine you have a taste for and choose from Michelin Star restaurants to delicious street food – just find a cart with an umbrella. Grab a Sabrett for me!
Philadelphia, PA:
Don’t look now, but I think I see Rocky at the top of the Art Museum’s steps! See where the iconic movie was filmed right here in the center of this sprawling city. If you love history then you have come to the right place. See the Declaration of Independence, the Liberty Bell and then stroll or take a carriage ride through the historical areas where cobblestones and original architecture still stand despite the modern city built up all around it. Catch a show, sample the cuisine and enjoy the night life that the City of Brotherly Love has to offer!
Washington, DC:
Visiting the country’s capital is a veritable smorgasbord of patriotism! One of the best ways to make sure you see all the monuments is to sign up for a guided bus tour and a night time tour is especially spectacular. Don’t miss the Smithsonian museums such as the Air and Space. Take a somber tour of the Holocaust Museum or admire the the amazing works of art at the art museum. Of course no trip to DC is complete without seeing the Whitehouse and Capitol building. If you visit in the Spring you may be able to catch the cherry blossoms blooming or if you visit in the winter you can see the lights and the tremendous Christmas tree. If you are just going for a day trip a guided tour is highly recommended!
