Guest Reviews
Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our guests say:
This was our second time at the Shepherd’s Hut, and we will be coming again! Rosalind is a gem, very kind, helpful, and you can tell she really put tons of thought into her camp site. The history of the property is super cool. The Shepherd’s Hut and the entire property of Aberdeen Mills is immaculately kept, and it’s off of a very quiet road.

Our host, Rosalind, was responsive and welcoming, even introducing us to the chickens and baby goats.
We appreciated her family’s hospitality and loved hearing about the two-and-a-half centuries of history at Aberdeen Mills. We explored the creek, hiked the nearby recreation trail, visited the mill, and had a delightful time relaxing with the cats on the front porch overlooking the pasture. The home had everything we needed and more, including snacks and guides to the surrounding area.

Communication was the best I’ve experienced on Airbnb. Location was perfect for our purposes. We visited Hersheypark, Lancaster, Indian Echo Caverns, and the Appalachian Trail

Fantastic – exactly as described, if not better, as the place has a great “feel” to it. The location is a perfect spot to spend time just hanging out, while Hershey and Elizabethtown are a quick drive away. Highly recommended!

Charming retreat, blending history and nature. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy hut! The host was very responsive and made accommodations for our little one. We appreciated the rich history of the estate, along with the numerous natural amenities, like the nearby creek (where we took a quick dip in the swimming hole). The outdoor shower and bathroom were clean and well-maintained. It’s a short trip to town, yet we felt pleasantly secluded from the hustle and bustle. We would be happy to return!

The hut, even more interesting a restored hay wagon, was immaculate. Its all in the details. The owner’s attention to making the rental cozy, homey, and a unique woodland escape were evident from wall to wall, and outdoors. Electricity and charging ports were a great bonus. We were completely warmed by the ambient electric woodstove and the “outhouse”/toilet was spotless. Warm months would be a pleasure to use the large, hot water shower by the creek. The outside area with gas grill, neat-as-a-pin firepit with provided over-the-fire cooking grill (not your average grate), hammock and seating were grassy and well-groomed for leisure that we enjoyed creek side for the view, and nature’s music. The owner is a sweetheart and easy for needs and communication. We felt privacy, too. Staying again goes without question!
